Small boxes and some very unique wood
Meetings at Paul workshop are always a treat. This time he showed a couple of small boxes that he put together a some pieces of bird’s eye red oak…yes, red oak. No one at the meeting at had ever come across birds-eye red oak so it was quite the topic of conversion. The second strange hardwood that Paul passed around was roasted maple. It is essentially maple that is baked at high temperatures in vacuum press so it has minimal oxygen. The end product is reminiscent of walnut and the smell is sweet.
The June 1st meeting will be held at the MOP shop in the old state nursery building on route 12. Hope to see you all there!
